We sit in hushed anticipation. As the day draws down the agitated clucking and chuckling of Blackbirds going to roost starts to subside. The first hoot of a Tawny Owl signals the emergence of the night creatures. Bats begin to flit beneath the canopy of a spreading Oak. Rodents scurry through the undergrowth. A Roe buck passes close by through the Bluebells on its nightly forage. The scent of Wild Garlic hangs heavy on the breeze. As the light fades every fallen branch or clump of leaves looks like a black and white mask. But it’s only your mind playing tricks until… look, there, bolt upright and sniffing the night air, a big old boar Badger bursts on the scene.
